About This Tour

The 7 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek takes you to all the major attractions – but in less time than other treks to the Annapurna region. Take in the spectacular soaring snow-capped peaks, unique Gurung culture & villages, and amazing landscapes.

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) (4130m) is commonly known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. This trek promises “in-your-face” unprecedented views of colossal mountain ranges, which include Hiunchuli, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Annapurna South peaks.

The best time of year to trek in this region is in spring when Rhododendron forests are in full bloom (red, pink & white), their pink blossoms contrasting with the more rugged mountain scenery. Nevertheless, it is possible to do the Annapurna Base Camp trek all year round.

Here is a sample of soaring snow-capped peaks you will see along the trail: Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m) Mt. Manaslu (8163 m), Mt. Annapurna II (7937 m.), Mt. Annapurna III (7555m), Mt. Annapurna IV (7525m), Mt. Annapurna south (7219m), Mt. Nilgiri (7041m), Mt. Machapuchare (6998m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6441m), Mt. Lamjung Himal (6986m) and Tukuche Peak (6920m).

Some of the mountains seen from ABC are Tharpu Chuli (5663m), Singu Chuli (6501m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and South Annapurna (7219m). On the trail, you will see numerous chortens (Buddhist stone monuments), prayer flags, yaks grazing, bamboo and rhododendron forests, and the unique Tibetan style architecture of this region.

This jam-packed adventure starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and on to Nayapul (1050m) where we begin our trek with the Modi Khola River below and terraced rice fields above. Our next stop is Chomrong (2170m) and then on to the Himalaya Lodge at Ghandruk (1940m). Along the trail, you will have marvelous views of snow-clad mountains. The next day we follow the trail to the Himalaya Lodge at Himalaya where you will have time to explore this mountainous town and admire their culture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, hiring a government-licensed guide is mandatory for all foreign trekkers. Following regulations actively enforced across Nepal, solo or unguided trekking is strictly prohibited inside national parks and conservation areas. Checkpoints along the trails will verify your guide's credentials before letting you proceed.

International trekkers require two primary permits:
• Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): NPR 3,000 (~$23 USD) for foreign nationals and NPR 1,000 for SAARC nationals.
• TIMS Card (Trekkers' Information Management System): NPR 2,000 (~$15 USD).
Both permits must be acquired in advance via the central digital portal or registered trekking agencies

The peak trekking seasons are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (late September to November). Autumn offers the crispest mountain views and clearest skies, while Spring brings warmer weather and blooming rhododendron forests. Winter brings heavy snow and pass closures, while the summer monsoon season brings mud and poor visibility

Difficulty ranges heavily by route. Shorter walks like Poon Hill or Mardi Himal are considered easy to moderate and highly accessible. However, iconic deep-mountain treks like Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) or the full Annapurna Circuit are challenging to strenuous, involving sustained steep climbs, stone steps, and demanding high-altitude conditions

The region features an excellent network of local teahouses (mountain lodges). While lower villages offer relatively comfortable setups, amenities become much more rustic at higher elevations. Expect simple rooms with twin beds, communal dining halls, and shared bathrooms

Yes, but they usually cost extra and become less reliable the higher you ascend. Lower teahouses routinely offer Wi-Fi and solar-heated showers, but at upper camps, battery charging and internet connectivity are sparse, often relying on pricey satellite connections. Carrying a high-capacity power bank is highly recommended

Teahouses offer surprisingly diverse menus, though the staple fuel for hikers is Dal Bhat (a nutritious platter of lentil soup, rice, and vegetable curry). Other common options include garlic soup (great for altitude), noodles, pasta, porridge, and momos (dumplings). Food and bottled water costs steadily increase the higher up the trail you go

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) can affect anyone above 2,500 meters. The golden rules are to ascend gradually (no more than 300-500 meters of elevation per day), walk at a slow and steady pace, and drink 4-5 liters of water daily. Your licensed guide will closely monitor your condition and carry acclimatization protocols.

No, the trail operates entirely on cash. ATMs are virtually non-existent past major trailheads like Besisahar or Nayapul, and those that exist are frequently out of order or cash-depleted. You must withdraw plenty of Nepalese Rupees (NPR) in Kathmandu or Pokhara to cover your daily meals, hot showers, charging fees, and tips.

While not legally required to buy a permit, comprehensive travel insurance is heavily required by all reputable trekking agencies. Ensure your specific policy explicitly covers high-altitude trekking up to 6,000 meters (essential for the Thorong La Pass) and includes emergency helicopter evacuation.
